Hidden in a valley of the Tiras Mountains lies Namtib Biosphere Reserve. Here, surrounded by majestic African landscapes – rugged mountains towering over vast open plains – you will experience tranquility, wide open spaces, unique unspoilt scenery, breathtaking views, untouched nature and absolute silence.
NAMTIB offers two accommodation possibilities:
At NAMTIB DESERT LODGE you’ll find typical Namibian rustic farm style accommodation. The lodge has 5 double/twin rooms each with its own bathroom, 1 family room sleeping 4 persons, with its own bathroom, and two single rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The small size of the lodge guarantees our visitors an individual experience as we personally attend our guests. “Home-cooked” meals are provided and enjoyed around one large table in our dining room / lounge, allowing the visitor to feel part of NAMTIB’s family.
For the traveller who wishes to find a true desert and wilderness experience, our campsite LITTLE HUNTER’S REST is just the place you’re looking for. 5 camping sites spread far apart under large camelthorn trees ensure an unforgettable stay. The campsite provides one common ablution building with showers and WC’s and each individual site has its own barbeque facility.
The landscape of NAMTIB is a natural hiker’s paradise. Discover it’s untouched beauty on your own or join us on a guided hike through the mountains or in the neighbouring dunes of the Namib in the Garub-Koichab Concession area. The newly installed botanical trail will provide you with an insight into the vast diversity of plants occuring in our delicate environment. On our Nature Drive you’ll get a look behind the scenes into the life on a farm at the edge of the desert, gaining information on fauna and flora, our conservation efforts and farming activities.
NAMTIB’S valley will entice you and you will realize: You have arrived – this is Namibia!
