Masuku Lodge is set in the beautiful, unspoilt bush of Nkanga River Conservation Area (NRCA). It overlooks a lake and is surrounded by miombo, dambo and thicket. This wide range of habitats supports a high diversity of bird and animal life. NRCA is one of Southern Africa’s most important bird areas and is an excellent place to see Zambia’s only endemic bird, the Chaplin’s Barbet.
Break your journey between Lusaka and Victoria Falls with a dinner, a peaceful and relaxed night’s sleep and a leisurely breakfast, in friendly and comfortable surroundings. Or stay for a weekend and walk in the beautiful bush.
You will see zebra, kudu, sable and bushbuck, amongst many other animals that live in the thicket and miombo. If you are really lucky, you might see the shy aardvark and leopard.
There are wild flowers in the vlei and orchids in the thicket and miombo.
In the dry season, just relax in the gardens and watch the animals as the come to drink at the lake. During the rains, the impressive birdlife is swelled by many visiting duck and waterbirds.
Accommodation is in six attractive thatched rondavels, with twin beds and en-suite facilities. Each has a verandah where you can sit and enjoy the view of the bush and the lake at the end of the gardens.
Meals are taken family style, in the main lodge dining room. There is also a spacious lounge in which to relax.
